Girovago

2017

Girovago
Reborn from worn out times, an artist wanders into the room.

The Italian poet, Ungaretti wrote his poem Girovago (vagabond) after fighting as a soldier in World War I, where he is wandering around in a broken world, seeking to be reborn in an innocent land.
Now his poem is the leitmotif for the 5 challenged artists from different disciplines participating in this one week project. One after the other, with less than 23 hours to work, will present their artistic interpretation of the poem, Girovago. Each artist will have the space from the previous artist as a starting point. The first evening will be a kick-off event, where each participant will bring some material for the first person.

Each evening at 20:00 the audience will witness the transformation of the space and will be granted a very interesting look into the artistic process of each artist.

Requiem for a Cosmonaut

2014

foto: Charlotte Brouckaert

“Being human means nothing when you’re alone.”

A meditative psychological science fiction crystallizing around the experiences of a cosmonaut on board of a disintegrating spaceship.
The cosmonaut, symbol of the greatest height of progression of the modern era, becomes the victim of his own success. Doomed to fall down in Icarus style, the cosmonaut is fighting a lost battle to prevent the collapse of the system on which he depends.
Surrealistically permeated with sounds and images from the time of the Renaissance, this solo performance also proposes a reflection on man's timeless longing to unify himself with his universe.

Dedicated to Erwin, who navigated so beautiful in extremely bad weather.

Two sink three float

2011

A Trio performance with dance and visual theater.
"The water as unknown, depth, subconscious lets things float or sink. On this thin membrane between top and bottom one is taken into a surreal and visual story. Three characters find their balance on a platform, among themselves with the elements. There is an underworld, a world under, which we do not see. It is not shown on the surface. Or is it?"

Cast: Choreographer: Satya Roosens. Created with Simon Thomas-Train and dancers: Mirte Courtens, Armand van den Hamer, Saty Roosens. Visual artist Kurt Demey. Constructor: Collin Kassies. Composer: Giovanni di Domenico. Dramaturgic advise: Klaus Jurgen. Textile designer: Rosalie Spruijt. Stage: Mael Palu (FAIAR)

Where has the moon gone?

2010
Tsuki wa doko e itta? (Where has the moon gone?)

A multidisciplinary performance with dance, music and calligraphy, presented at the Chinese Zen temple Kofukuji, which was founded in 1620 in Nagasaki, Japan. Inspiration for this piece came from the moon and Chinese poetry on the moon and the Chinese characters themselves. These 'Kanji' were transformed into movement dance and music and formed a technical ellement that brought together the artists from Holland, Shang Hai, Tokyo, Nagasaki, and Hirado.

Jazz@Lib - Une Histoire de Vent

2009

Kristina Fuchs - stem,
Ned McGowan - (contrabas)fluit,
Naomi Sato - saxofoon en sho,
Michel Mulder – bandoneon,

Gently reframed

2009

foto: Annelinde de Jong

Taking a playful and naive perspective Armand van den Hamer is reframing his favorite elements from Japanese culture (like shodo, sumo, zen, a.o.) into a context of European contemporary dance.
Gently reframed is a short solo dance performed as part of the 12xHolland Art Festival in Hirado, Japan.

Nuit sur le monde

2007-2009

Company Mossoux-Bonté
Theatre of fantasy and images, Nuit sur le monde is a triptych that evokes our relation to the ancestral, the contemporary and a hypothetical future.
Everything begins with the image of a bas-relief composed of figures that start moving, detaching themselves from the stone and the shadows… Abrupt falls, uncertain embraces, flows of movement interrupted: humanity unfolding in the doubt of its origins and the knowledge of its end.
The performance delves into the themes of vanity and the eternal return, blending different situations with a certain humour and distance. Dancers and actors dive into the dark night of the body – an opaque mystery that vibrates like an approaching storm.

With: Sébastien Jacobs, Leslie Mannès, Sylvie Merck, Ayelen Parolin, Maxence Rey,
Candy Saulnier, Armand van den Hamer
Concept: Patrick Bonté
Direction and choreography: Nicole Mossoux and Patrick Bonté

Premiered at Brigittines Brussels. Touring: London, Poznan, Turin, Kortrijk, Avignon, Paris, Leipzich, Dijon, Krakow, etc.
